Job Description / Responsibility
Digital Asset Librarians play a key role in maintaining and enhancing repositories of digital information, thereby enabling both GraphicPeople and our clients to find digital information quickly and easily.
The holder of this new position will primarily be responsible for editing and enhancing metadata records for digital assets in a Xinet DAM system, but may also be required to help catalogue and classify enterprise content stored in a content management system from time to time.
Apply editorial standards and procedures to create or enhance metadata for digital assets stored in GraphicPeople’s Xinet digital asset management system, and other systems as necessary;
Assist Global Director of Library Science & Information Management in the development and documentation of appropriate editorial standards and procedures for digital asset metadata e.g. metadata schema, controlled vocabularies, cataloguing rules, file and folder naming conventions, mapping specifications and data conversion methodologies etc.;
Work with local creative and studio production staff to ensure timely availability of high-quality digital assets;
Prepare, ingest into and organize digital assets and associated metadata in the Xinet digital asset management system;
Stay abreast of developing standards, practices and tools in the field of digital asset and content management;
Assist in the tracking and reporting of workflow and productivity;
Provide training and advice to other staff members as necessary and appropriate;
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the position as required by the Global Director of Library Science & Information Management.
Educational Requirements:
Relevant degree in Digital Asset Management/ Library Science.
Experience Requirements: Minimum 2 year(s)
Additional Job Requirements
At least 2 years professional experience cataloguing electronic resources;
A thorough understanding of the development and application of metadata standards, controlled vocabularies and cataloguing rules;
Familiarity with digital asset and content management tools and technologies, especially in a creative environment (e.g. Xinet Webnative, EXIF, Adobe XMP);
Familiarity with data management standards, tools and technologies (e.g. XML, XSLT, RDF, SQL etc.);
Excellent organizational skills;
Good written and oral communication skills in English.
